It is well established in the literary world that women are published and promoted significantly less than men. Even when the data is corrected for women writers submitting their work more infrequently for publication, men still dominate the pages of national and international literature, including anthologies, literary magazines, books, and book reviews. More than a decade ago when D.C. author and editor and American University alum Richard Peabody founded the Grace & Gravity book series to highlight the work of D.C. Women Writers, the community response was overwhelmingly positive. Eleven volumes later, the book has become a local and national success featuring established authors and emerging writers while highlighting D.C. as an impressive home of artists.
